Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, Jenn’s first experience with dogs began at the age of 9. Her older sister, who was also a photography lover, had convinced her immigrant parents to let the family get a dog. By the time Jenn graduated from university with a degree in Psychology & Political Science in 2018, her second family dog had passed. She spent the next 4 years after that attempting to work full-time, burning out during the pandemic, and eventually quitting her corporate job in health tech, realizing that she should be doing something else with her life—something that she loved, cared about, and was genuinely good at.
Knowing that she was a dog lover at heart, she adopted her puppy Duke in the Spring of 2022, which inspired her to pick up her camera again and start shooting dog portraits. A journalist from the start, she decided to combine her passions for photography and writing and, a year later, create “Dogs Will Teach You Love,” a collection of love stories that feature dogs and their guardians. Why? We can all learn something about love from studying our relationship with dogs, and we can connect and build empathy for each other as a society by sharing those lessons.
